In Kerala, patriotism and gaiety marked the Republic Day celebrations in the state. The state minister of Panchayats and Social Justice, Dr M K Muneer unfurled the National Flag and took salute at an impressive function held at the Vikram Maidan in Calicut this morning.23 platoons belonging to the Armed Police, Excise, Forest, NCC and the Student Police Corps took part in the parade.Addressing the gathering, Dr Muneer said the state government will sternly deal with terrorism, whatever be its form.The Minister said Non-Resident Keralities will be able to exercise their franchise either by e-voting or by proxy-voting in the forthcoming local body polls, to be held in October later this year.
