New Delhi District Election Office today issued a notice to Aam Aadmi Party, AAP, for alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct by holding a protest outside BJP headquarters in the city yesterday. The party has been asked to explain by 3 pm tomorrow as to why action should not be taken against it for holding the protest without taking permission from poll officials and in violation of the Code.
Our Correspondent reports, Aam Aadmi Party, AAP, and BJP workers yesterday clashed over the detention of AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal in Gujarat. Kejriwal was, however, released later.
In a related development this afternoon, Delhi police took Aam Aadmi Party spokespersons, Ashutosh and Shazia Illmi, for questioning over their alleged role in yesterday's violent clashes. They are among the party workers against whom FIR has been registered.
