Kaziranga to reopen for visitors from Nov.1

The World Heritage Site, Kaziranga National park will re-open for visitors on first November. The Director of the park N K Vasu said that repairing and maintenance works of roads and other infrastructures are on which were damaged by floods.

Vasu also said that, tourists may need wait for a few days to visit the whole park as some low lying areas are still reeling under water.

According to data, the park has recorded an increasing number of tourists every year. Last season, a total of around 1 lakh 25 thousand foreign and domestic tourists visited the park.

The world heritage site is one of the most important tourist hubs in Assam. It has the largest population of the One Horned Rhinoceros and the home of largest population density of the Royal Bengal Tigers per 100 sq Kilo Meter.

Assam government has intensified patrolling in and around the park after poachers killed 15 rhinos this year. The Union Environment minister Jayanthi Natrajan recently visited the park and announced a slew of measures for the protection of its inhabitants.
