Kazakhstan officially announces 225 people killed in unrest last week

<span style="color: black;">In Kazakhstan it is officially announced that 225 people were killed in the unrest last week, that included 19 members of the security forces. Serik Shalabayev, the head of prosecutor's office said this in a briefing yesterday. He added that the figure included civilians and armed "bandits" killed by security forces. The deadliest violent protests in the oil-producing Central Asian state began this month after a jump in car fuel prices.<br />'' <br />''He  said 50,000 strong crowds rioted throughout the former Soviet republic and torched government buildings, cars, banks and shops in several major cities. In the meantime, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev turned to a Russia-led military bloc for help during the unrest and sidelined his former patron and predecessor Nursultan Nazarbayev by taking over the national security council.</span><br />
