In Kazakhstan, the lower house of parliament today unanimously passed a bill aimed at granting President Nursultan Nazarbayev the status of leader of the nation and immunity from prosecution. <br/><br/>The bill, however, requires approval from the upper house. Nursultan Nazarbayev has been ruling the country since its independence in 1991.<br/>
