Kathakali maestro Kottakkal Sivaraman died at Karalmanna near Balakkad in Kerala. He was 74. The death came last night at 10.30 p.m. in his house at the Karalmanna. He was under treatment for the last one month. Kottakkal Sivaraman who made his debut at the age of 13 was famous for his female characters in Kathakali. Recognising his expertise in presenting female role, he has been awarded three Ratnapuram Puraskar.Kathakali maestro had received many awards like Kendra Sangeet Nataka Academy award and Kerala state Kathakali award.
