The annual two-day festival of St.Anthony is being held at Katchatheevu from today. A total of eighty fishermen and others began their journey from Rameswaram fishing harbor to attend the festival today.<br />''<br />''AIR Correspondent reports The passengers are traveling by three mechanised boats and a country-made vessel to attend the festival at the island which is situated at a distance of 24. 7 kms between India and Srilanka. The fishermen have undergone the official clearances to attend the festival.  <br />''<br />''St. Anthony's festival is a customary festive occasion for fishermen and pilgrims from both India and Srilanka. The festival remains a long-lasting friendship with both countries.<br />''<br />''Priests from both countries conduct the mass and car procession which begins with flag hoisting today evening. The church is dedicated to St.Anthony of Padua, the patron saint of fishermen and seafarers during ancient days.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The Jaffna Bishop holds the charge of the Church.  At least fifty fishermen and their families from Jaffna, Srilanka are also attending the festival which ends tomorrow. Electricity, security, food , infrastructure and internal transport for the devotees were all handled by the Srilankan Navy,  lifeguards and medical teams were also deployed for the convenience of the devotees.</span><br />
