India's P Kashyap has entered the men's singles quarterfinals of the Denmark Open Super Series badminton championship. At Odense on Friday, Kashyap pulled off a major upset, defeating third-seed Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand in straight games 21-9 21-19. Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Kashyap came out with a clinical display against higher placed Thai opponent to win the match in just 31 minutes. Unseeded Kashyap is world number 38, while Ponsana is ranked number 10 in the world. Kashyap next faces world number 26 Pengyu Du, the only Chinese in the draw, in quarterfinals. The two other Indians in the singles, Chetan Anand and Anand Pawar, have already crashed out of the event.
