Kashmir: Militants fire at security forces indiscriminately

In Jammu and Kashmir, militants today opened indiscriminate fire at security forces who had launched search operations in the forest area of Rajouri district. According to Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajouri, R.K. Jalla , a joint search operation was launched by Rashtriya Rifle troops and Special Operation Group of police in Bagla forest area near Shahdra Sharief.The militants, believed to be three in number, opened indiscriminate fire with their automatic weapons on the approaching security forces, who also retaliated. The encounter was still going on when the reports last came in. Our Correspondent R.K.Raina quoting official sources reports that the group of militants is believed to be the same group which ambushed an Army Convoy near Thanamandi on Wednesday and attacked a passenger bus in which two persons including a lady got killed and twenty other had sustained injuries. Meanwhile, elaborate security arrangements have been made in entire Jammu division to ensure that Independence day celebration pass off peacefully.
