The higher reaches in the Kashmir Valley are experiencing fresh snowfall today while it has been raining in the plains since morning. The rain and snow has broken a long dry spell.<br/> Till yesterday, Valley had received only five mm rain and snow during the peak winter month of January 2010 against average of sixty-five mm. The snowfall has brought relief to the farmers who were apprehending damage to the crops due to dry spell.<br/> The famous tourist resorts of Gulmarg and Pahalgam have also experienced snowfall enhancing the chances of tourist arrivals. The traffic on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained suspended today due to slippery road conditions and nearly five hundred vehicles are stranded on the highway from Nagrota to Jawahar Tunnel.
