Kashmir encounter: Two militants killed

In Jammu & Kashmir, two militants were killed in an ongoing anti militancy operation in Awantipora area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. Defence spokesman told AIR that the operation was underway in the area. <br/><br/>The Army's Rashtriya Rifles (RR) Units, CRPF and Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police are involved in the operation. Sources said the gunfight erupted after the militants escaped into the government plant nursery near Goripora area of Awantipora following a brief exchange of gunfire with troops of Rashtriya Rifles and SOG in nearby Wandakhpora village.<br/><br/><br/>One of the slain militants Abu Okasha, was reported to be wanted by National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Udhampur highway BSF convoy attack case on August 5th last year by the foreign militants. Sources said at least two more members of a group of about ten to twelve militants, were still trapped in the plant nursery. Army, police and CRPF have laid a cordon in Wandakhpora, Goripora and Kunjipora villages.
