In Afghanistan Ahmad Wali Karzai step brother of President Hamid Karzai, has been killed in Kandhar at his residence today. A spokesman for Kandahar governor told that he was shot dead by his own body guard.The officials said the gunman had himself been killed by the other bodyguards. Ahmad Wali Karzai, Head of Kandhar Provincial Council was a powerful leader of Kandhar Province. The assassination came just before the Afghan President received French President Nicolas Sarkozy who reached Kabul today on an unscheduled visit to Afghanistan. During a joint press conference with Mr Sarkozy, President Karzai expressed shock and distress at the incident and hoped that the miseries of the Afghan people will end one day. Mr Sarkozy also expressed his condolences to President Karzai, adding that the Afghans are going through a difficult time. Taliban have claimed responsibility for the assassination.
