Afghan President Hamid Karzai reached Kazakhstan today to participate in the 10th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. An official press release issued in Kabul today said President Karzai met Kazakhstan President Noor Sultan Nazarbayev. Both leaders agreed to expand economic ties between the two countries. The summit meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation will be held tomorrow in Kazakh capital, Astana. According to the press release President Karzai will present the views of Afghanistan on regional cooperation, the war against terror, counter-narcotics and economic cooperation. SCO is a regional security group with China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan as the main members. India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan have observer status in it.At the 2010 Tashkent summit, the SCO had decided to lift the moratorium on the expansion of the forum and approved the rules for admitting new members into the SCO.
