Afghan President Hamid Karzai has ordered release of 20 misguided youths including teen age boys in the holy month of Ramadan and before the Id festival. A statement issued by the President’s office says these children were misguided by the insurgents to become suicide bombers but were detained by the security forces before committing any incident.These children met Mr. Karzai in the Presidential Palace on Wednesday and were pardoned by the President. According to the statement the younger children would be sent back to their parents immediately and the older ones would be returned to their homes after education and reintegration programmes.Mr. Karzai has said that there cannot be a bigger crime than to fasten explosives to a child’s body and tell him to go and commit suicide attack. The head of Afghanistan ‘s Ulema Council, Qiamuddin Kashaf addressing the pardoned suicide bombers asked them to concentrate on their studies and avoid the path of terrorism.AIR Kabul correspondent reports that there has been a spike in suicide bomb attacks in Afghanistan in recent months. As their new strategy, insurgents are preparing children and women for suicide attacks.
