Afghanistan president Mr. Hamid Karzai has criticised foreign forces over civilian deaths, after officials said nine children died in an air strike. Mr Karzai, presently on a visit to London, warned in a statement that the NATO-led forces could face huge problems if the accidental killing of civilians does not stop. The statement said the sad event in Kunar happens less than ten days from a similar attack that left many civilians dead in the same province. It said the children were collecting firewood when attacked. The Afghan President asserted that that fighting terrorism in Afghan villages can have no success, but casualties of poor and innocent civilians and called upon NATO to focus on the safe havens of terrorists. Mr Karzai has long insisted that international forces deployed to his country should focus their efforts on militant hideouts across the border in neighbouring Pakistan.Meanwhile, another NATO air strike killed four guards working for a private security company in southern province of Helmand. A NATO spokesman said a joint investigation with Afghan officials was underway into incident.
