Afghan President Hamid Karzai has strongly condemned the attack on Intercontinental Hotel yesterday and emphasized that no such attack can stand in the way to implement the security transition process in Afghanistan. In his message he extended his deep sympathies and condolences to the families and relatives of the victims and prayed for a quick recovery of the injured. President Karzai also expressed condolences on the killing of a Spanish Pilot in the attack. He has praised the rapid response of the security forces which helped in timely control of the situation. The International Security Assistance Force and Afghan Interior Ministry have also condemned the attack. Meanwhile, Afghanistan security forces have sanitized the high security Intercontinental Hotel where more than 10 people were killed and eight others injured in insurgent attack last night. Six heavily armed insurgents stormed the hotel around 10 p.m. (IST) last night. Afghan security forces fought a pitched battle before calling International Security Assistance Force. In the five hour operation, in which helicopters were also used, all the insurgents were killed. Our Kabul correspondent reports, the incident has once again raised security concerns regarding US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan.
