Karzai assures Indians’ security involved in reconstruction work in Afghanistan

Afghanistan has assured India that it will take all possible measures for the security of all Indians in that country. President Hamid Karzai gave this assurance in his talks with the Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh in New Delhi today. He also invited India to the follow-up of London conference to be held in Kabul. <br/><br/>The situation in Afghanistan, the region and the common problem of terrorism and extremism and the coming SAARC Summit were discussed at the meeting which lasted more than an hour. <br/><br/>Prime Minister assured Afghanistan that India is committed to its assistance to Afghanistan in their efforts towards reconstruction and development of war torn country. He said India will also increase its assistance for capacity building, skill and human resource development to help strengthen public institutions in Afghanistan. <br/><br/>Both leaders held that the attack in February targeting Indian Embassy was the handiwork of those who do not wish to see a strong, independent and pluralistic Afghanistan. <br/><br/>The Prime Minister conveyed to President Karzai that perpetrators of such attacks will not succeed in undermining India's commitment to assist Afghan people. <br/>Mr. Karzai also expressed gratitude to India for the reconstruction effort in his country.
