Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. M. Karunanidhi has said inculcating scientific thinking among young children assumes importance in knowledge economy. Inaugurating the 18th National Children’s Science Congress in Chennai today, he said children should be made to think on rational basis as they are the future architects of modern India.Referring to the theme of the congress ‘Land Resources use for prosperity: Save for posterity’ Mr. Karunanidhi said both the central and state government are implementing several schemes to use the land for prosperity and leave it to the future generation in good condition.Listing the schemes being carried in the state for soil conservation, he said , Western Ghat Development programme, Precision Farming, Soil and water conservation in the catchments for River Valley projects are some schemes being undertaken to conserve the land for posterity.Over 700 children scientists along with guide teachers from various parts of the country and 40 students from Asian countries are participating in this 5 day mega science congress.
