Karunanidhi comes to A Raja’s rescue as Telecom Minister faces opposition charges

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today backed Telecom Minister A Raja, who is under fire from the opposition on alleged charges of corruption in the 2G spectrum scam case. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, he virtually ruled out the demand of Raja's resignation over the controversy. <br/> <br/>AIR correspondent reports that this is Karunanidhi's first visit to Delhi after the UPA- II came to power at the Centre.<br/> <br/>’DMK Chief has almost made it clear that Mr.Raja will not resign in the wake of controversy on the allocation of 2G Spectrum. The issue has been disrupting proceedings in the two houses of parliament with opposition seeking resignation of the Telecom Minister. Though A Raja has refuted the allegations, the press is bringing new angles of the case to the fore since last one week. That is why it is expected that the spectrum issue apart, the absence of his son and Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister M K Alagiri's from Parliament will figure in the discussions between Karunadhi's meetings with the Dr.Manmohan Singh and Mrs. Sonia Gandhi .’<br/> <br/> Mr. Karunanidhi will also hold a meeting with Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia to finalise Tamil Nadu's annual plan outlay. <br/>
