The DMK Chief M Karunanidhi has called for UN intervention in providing a permanent solution to the Sri Lankan problem. Addressing the TESO conference in Chennai yesterday, the DMK President said that a long term solution will be a political one, giving equal opportunity to the Tamils living there. Earlier, the Conference passed resolutions which reiterated the intervention of the UN in rebuilding the life of those affected due to the ethnic conflict and also sought protection to the Indian fishermen.
The conference was attended by dignitaries from UK, US, Morocco, Turkey, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Switzerland.
