Karthikeyan back on Formula One Grid

Narain Karthikeyan is back on the Formula One Grid. The ace Indian driver announced yesterday that he has signed a contract with Hispania Racing Team (HRT) for the 2011 season. The 33-year old Coimbatore-based driver's date with speed on the F-1 circuit came in 2005 for Jordan. Carrying the tag, "fastest Indian in the world," Narain's expertise and experience behind the wheel has earned him adulation not only in India but internationally as well. The timing of Karthikeyan's comeback assumes significance as India will make its debut in 2011 as an F1 venue. Acknowledging this, the Indian racer said that it would be a double treat for the Indian fans as they will have an Indian driver and an Indian team (Force India) to cheer for. Karthikeyan had become first F1 driver from India when he raced for Jordan in 2005 and test-drove for Williams in 2006 and 2007. After that, he raced in the A1 Grand Prix series, dubbed as World Cup of motor sport till 2009 and then competed in the American Nascar Truck series and the Super league Formula in Europe last year.
