The Supreme Court has allowed State PSU NMDC to operate two of its iron ore mines in Bellary district of Karnataka.The apex court, however, said no part of iron ore extracted by NMDC will be exported. Karnataka will charge royalty at the rate of 10 per cent of the current market value of iron ore. The court had banned mining in the area following Lokayuktha report indicting former Karnatak Chief Minister Yedyurappa of corrupt practices involving the mining firms.
