Karnataka's COVID-19 tally rises to 80,863 with 5,030 fresh cases

In Karnataka, a steep spike of 5,030 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported on Thursday, taking the tally to 80,863.<br />'' <br />''According to Health and Family Welfare Department report, a total of 2071 persons have recovered and discharged from various hospitals across the State and 49,931 active cases were under Covid treatment.<br />'' <br />''97 deaths were reported on Thursday, taking the total deaths to 1,616. <br />'' <br />''AIR correspondent reports, in Karnataka a total number of 27,773 swab samples were tested in 88 labs across the State on Thursday and the total tests has gone up to 11,40,647. <br />'' <br />''The recovery rate of the State is 36.25 percent and the mortality rate has gone down to 1.81 per cent.<br />'' <br />''Meanwhile the National Aerospace Laboratories 'NAL' said it would soon start human clinical trial of its indigenously developed non-invasive ventilator "Swasthvayu" to treat COVID-19 patients. <br />'' <br />''The trial of the first Made in India non-invasive ventilator would begin at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru. <br />'' <br />''The device can be used for COVID patients and also support those suffering from other respiratory  disorders and heart failures.<br />
