Karnataka utilized 95 per cent fund under NREGS

The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister in Karnataka Jagadish Shetter informed in Bangalore on Monday that the state has utilized 95 per cent of funds under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. He informed that the State has utilized over 357 crore rupees in 2008-09 and 1525 crore rupees during the current financial year under NREGA.<br/><br/>He however added that Central Government which allocated 2846 crore rupees labour budget to the state under the scheme has not yet released the balance amount of 1, 200 crore rupees. The minister said he is leaving for New Delhi tomorrow to meet Union Minister for Rural Development Dr C P Joshi to request for early release of remaining amount under the scheme.
