Karnataka to approach HC for appointment of Claim Commissioner to assess damage caused in Bengaluru violence

<span style="color: #222222;">A meeting headed by Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Home Minister Basarvaraj Bommai in Bengaluru today has decided to approach the High Court for the appointment of Claim Commissioner for the purpose of assessment of damages caused to private and public properties by rioteers in Bengaluru violence.<br />''<br />''The decision was also taken to recover damages from the culprits according to the directions of the Supreme Court in this regard. The Chief Minister has asked officials to initiate stringent action against the perpetrators of violence in D J Halli and K G Halli.<br />''<br />''It has been decided to appoint a team of three special public prosecutors to conduct the cases. A Special Investigation Team has been set up to investigate the incident thoroughly. They have been asked to invoke the Goonda Act in cases where the provisions are applicable.</span><br />
