Karnataka: Three workers killed in landslide; Amid heavy rainfall educational institutions declares holiday

In Karnataka, incessant and heavy rain continued in Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Uduppi and Kodagu districts. Educational institutions were declared holiday in these districts. Meanwhile, three labourers were killed and two people were injured after a landslip at Mukkuda in Panjikallu village in Dakshina Kannada district today. The deceased labourers from Kerala were working as rubber tappers. Karnataka Power Minister Sunil Kumar visited the area and assured all possible help to the affected labourers.<br />'' <br />'' Kumaradhara and Nethravathi rivers are flowing above the danger mark and people in the low-lying areas have been advised to move safer places.<br />'' <br />'' Revenue Minister R. Ashoka visited the rain-affected areas in Kodagu district today. He assured that the government will provide five lakh rupees as compensation to those who lost their houses in the rain. The Minister also visited the Chambu village were landslides have occurred. NDRF team has already reached the village and are ready for the rescue operation.  <br />'' <br />'' In Uttara Kannada, heavy rain continued in the district and the tributaries Gangavali, Kali Agnashi and Sharavathi is flowing above the danger mark. District in-Charge Minister Kotta Srinivas Poojari held a review meeting with the officials and instructed them to take relief and rescue operations immediately. <br />''
