Karnataka has released Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu in accordance with the Apex Court order. Chief Minister Jagadish Shetter said that the State had to abide by Court order and hence has release a water despite the distress. Speaking to media persons in Bangalore today, he regretted that Cauvery River Authority and the Supreme Court directed the state to release water even after the State conveyed to them about the difficult situation. Shettar said a Special Leave Petition has already been filed before the Supreme Court. The State government has already requested the Prime Minister at the Cauvery River Authority meeting on September 19 to send an expert team to evaluate the situation in the state and appraise itself with the ground realities and problems faced by the farmers.Meanwhile, normal life was disrupted in Mandya due to intensified agitation caused by release of Cauvery water. Deputy Commissioner Krishnaiah has announced holiday for schools and colleges in Mandya district tomorrow as a precautionary measure. Over 500 farmers led by Raitha Singha leader K S Puttanaiah, marching towards KRS dam were arrested for violating the prohibitory orders near KRS dam.
