The Karnataka Government has decided to take a stance against BT Brinjal. Speaking to the media persons in Bangalore today, the Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa informed in Bangalore today that he has written to Central Government that state is not in favour of according approval to commercial production of BT Brinjal. <br/><br/>He said BT Brinjal can be detrimental to the interest of farmers and hence his government does not intend to give a go ahead to BT Brinjal. The Chief Minister held series of discussions with farmers, NGOs and government officials before deciding to vote against BT Brinjal. The Government sources said the decision is taken prior to Union Minister of State for Environment and Forest Jairam Ramesh planned visit to Bangalore on Monday, to gather views of stake holders on Bacillus Thuringiensis Brinjal.
