Karnataka minister resigns

The Karnataka IT-BT Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and his Corporator son Katta Jagadish resigned today after an FIR was issued against them by Karnataka Lokayukta on charges of cheating, conspiracy and fabrication of documents in a land deal. The Chief Minsiter accepted their resignation and forwarded it to the Governor. The Karnataka Lokayukta had issued an FIR on Thursday against IT-BT Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, his son Katta Jagadish and eight others for misappropriation while allocating land meant for Special Economic Zone in 2006. The FIR charges that Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and his son Katta Jagadish received Rs.87 crores as bribe from promoters of Itaska Company and deposited the same in a benami company called Indu Builders and Developers. The Lokayukta also points out that the accused used false documents, submitted wrong information to the Government, indulged in forgery and violated rules to allocate and acquire 325 acres of land in Bandikodigehalli.The Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and Congress leader Siddaramaiah has demanded immediate arrest of the accused and scrapping of KIADB for being the cradle of corruption in all land deals cropping-up almost every day in the state. Siddaramaiah also disclosed that Congress will blow lid over many such land scams involving Katta Subramanya Naidu.
