In Karnataka, State Chief Minister D V Sadanand Gowda informed that the committee led by Additional Chief Secretary K Jairaj studying the Lokayukta report on illegal mining will submit its report in 15 days. The report indicts former Chief Ministers B S Yeddyurappa and H D Kumaraswamy, former ministers Janardhan Reddy and Karunakara Reddy and 787 officials for illegal mining in the state. Speaking to the media persons in Bangalore today after meeting the Governor, the Chief Minister said the Government will initiate action after the report is submitted.On the resignation of Justice Shivraj Patil as Lokayuktha, he said there is no possibility of withdrawing the resignation by Justice Patil and process will be started to find a new incumbent for the post. He also expressed pride at Dr. Chandrashekar Kamara getting the Jnanapeeth puraskar.
