Karnataka legislative Assembly will celebrate its Diamond Jubilee or 60th anniversary on Monday. To mark the occasion a special anniversary celebration will be held on Monday. The celebrations include felicitation of five living members of the historic session in 1952.Governor H R Bharadwaj and former Chief Justice of India Justice Venkatachalaiah will take part on this momentous occasion. A souvenir would be released and a photo exhibition of the first session has also been organised. In a memorable occasion etched in the annals of legislative assembly memoirs, the then Speaker V Venkatappa administered the oath of office to the then Chief Minister Kengal Hanumanthaiah and 94 other Members of the House. Hanumanthaiah was instrumental in building the majestic new Secretariat building called Vidhana Soudha.
