Karnataka illegal mining: CBI raids MLA Nagendra’s premises

A CBI team led by Superintendent of Police Subramanya Rao raided the residences and offices of mine owners in Bellary today. The residence and offices of Nagendra, sitting BJP MLA from Kudligi is one among those raided today.

The Associated Mining Company of former Minister Janardhan Reddy, Eagel Trading Company of Kudligi MLA Nagendra, Deccan Mining Syndicate of Rajendra Jain and Shree Kumaraswamy Mineral Export faced CBI raids.

CBI continues its raid and search on the houses and offices of mine owners in Karnataka. Seven teams have fanned out in the mining areas of the state.

The raids conducted on Monday are in the background of Supreme Court direction to CBI to investigate against those mine owners named in the Lokayukta report on illegal mining and Central Empowerment Committee findings.

CBI has issued FIRs against 134 persons based on Supreme Court directions.

Janardhan Reddy and several others are facing charges of illegal transport of iron ore, encroachment of forest land and overloading of trucks more than what is permissible, causing loss to the exchequer.
