Home Minister of Karnataka R Ashoka reviewed the security arrangements provided to Bangalore city on Monday in the background of intelligence reports on possible threats from various quarters. After the meeting, the minister informed the media persons that State is imparting special training to its police officials in counter terrorism and counter naxalism measures. He further said that 80 Constables specially trained by army officers in anti terrorism action will pass out of Centre for Counter terrorism on 30th this month. He informed that a special unit called police eye will start operation shortly to keep an eye on families whose members have history of involvement in underworld activities. Ashoka said mobile units Cheetah and Hoysala will be strengthened with more vehicles and communication devices. The Home minister further said that City Police Commissioner has been asked to visit one police station every Monday to review their work. He said those with arms licenses will be scrutinized of their activities. He further informed that the number of communal clashes has come down from 30 to eight last year in the state. On the calls received from abroad to jail inmates, the DG and IPG S T Ramesh said that they are seized of the matter and tracing calls received by inmates on daily basis.
