Karnataka High Court today overruled the verdict of Shimoga session’s court that had squashed a case seeking prosecution of former Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa in the encroachment of forestland and other cases.
The session court had squashed the case on the basis that no former sanction was sought from the Governor to proceed against the former Chief Minister. The High Court allowed prosecution today as Yeddyurappa does not hold any public office and hence no sanction is required now to proceed against him.
The complainant has alleged that Yeddyurappa acquired through fraudulent means 84 acres of forestland in Hunasekatte and also forged documents to allot four sites to his daughter Aruna Devi in Shimoga.
