The Karnataka High Court will resume hearing this afternoon on a petition filed by five independent MLAs challenging their disqualification from the state Assembly. The court had last week ruled that the outcome of the October 14 trust vote of the B S Yeddyurappa Government would be subject to its final decision on the petition.These MLAs were disqualified by Assembly Speaker K G Boppaiah along with 11 BJP MLAs for anti party activities on October 10 just before the first floor test of Yeddyurappa Government. They filed a petition contending that they cannot be disqualified as they won the election as independents. The petition was posted for hearing today. The High Court reserved the orders on the petitions filed by 11 rebel BJP MLAs, challenging their disqualification under anti-defection law. Earlier on Thursday, the BJP government won the second vote of confidence with 106 members supporting it, while 100 votes were cast against the confidence motion.
