A senior judge of Karnataka High Court, Justice V G Sabhahit will continue to hear today the matter related to disqualification of eleven BJP MLAs. Advocates on behalf of 11 BJP MLAs namely K G Raghavan, B V Acharya and Ravi Verma Kumar submitted their argument yesterday. Justice V G Sabhahit was appointed as third Judge after a Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice J S Khehar and N Kumar gave a split verdict on voluntary resignation of BJP MLAs. These disqualified BJP MLAs had appealed to the Court, when the Speaker K G Boppaiah had disqualified them under Anti Defection Law when they withdrew support to the BJP Government in Karnataka. Meanwhile Speaker K G Bopaiah’s office confirmed on Wednesday the resignation of Congress MLA from Jagalur S V Ramachandra, bringing down the strength of the Congress party in the Assembly to 72. A few days back the JD(S) MLA M C Ashwath had resigned from his Assembly seat. BJP has petitioned the Speaker to disqualify its legislator Manappa Vajjal for violating the party whip by staying away from the trust vote on the floor of the House on October 14.
