Karnataka HC hears petition on disqualification of 11 BJP MLAs by Assembly Speaker

The Karnataka High Court has taken up the hearing in the case relating to disqualification of 11 BJP MLAs by the Assembly Speaker. Justice V G Sabhahit is hearing the submissions made by lawyers representing the disqualified MLAs. The hearing by Justice Sabhahit as third judge was necessitated by a split verdict delivered by a division bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice N Kumar on Monday. The disqualified BJP MLAs had moved to the high court challenging Speaker K G Boppaiah decision to disqualify them under Anti Defection Law after they withdrew their support to the Yeddyurappa Government in Karnataka.
