The Karnataka Government has requested the Civil Aviation Ministry to reduce the number of flights emanating from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan to Karnataka.<br />'' <br />'' The request to reduce air traffic to the state is made following high number of COVID-19 cases prevalent there.<br />'' <br />'' The Law Minister J C Madhuswamy had said yesterday that the request is made with the sacred intention that there may not be adequate quarantine facilities if there is high turn-out at a short span of time.<br />'' <br />'' He said, similar restriction is imposed for people coming by road from these five states.<br />'' <br />'' In another development, the State Election Commission has postponed elections to 5,800 Gram Panchayats due to exceptional circumstances due to the pandemic.<br />'' <br />'' The tenure of these Gram Panchayats will end between June and August.<br />'' <br />'' <br />
