Karnataka minister for Electronics, IT, BT and Higher Education Dr C N Aswatha Nayarana launched the AVGC Center of Excellence in Bengaluru today. AVGC is Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics. The minister informed that Karnataka has become the first state in the country to set up a Center of Excellence with pioneering high technology digital media hub under its Innovate Karnataka initiative. Karnataka was also a pioneer in introducing AVGC policy, way back in 2012. The Center of Excellence on AVGC also has a finishing school offering unique courses on emerging technology such as virtual reality, digital compression, photogrammetry, gamification of education, real time virtual production and other emerging technologies. The minister pointed out that India commands around 10 percent of the global ACGC market and has the potential to reach 20 to 25 percent by 2027.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">AIR correspondent Karnataka accounts for a 20 percent share of the Indian Entertainment and AVGC industry. Over 300 animation, VFX and gaming studios operate in Karnataka employing over 15000 professionals. Ang Lee's Life of Pi that won recognition during the 85th Academy Awards had visual effects and computer aided animation created by a company in Bengaluru. The post production facilities in Bengaluru have global recognition as they have made major contributions in popular films like Jungle book, Lion King, Harry Potter, Kung Fu Panda-3, Godzilla, X-Men, Batman and Superman, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Chronicles of Narnia and our own Bahubali among others.</span><br />
