Karnataka govt issues new COVID-19 guidelines as cases surge

<span style="color: #222222;">A new set of guidelines are issued by Government of Karnataka yesterday to contain the surge in Covid 19 cases in the state. According to the new set of restrictions imposed, gyms and swimming pools will shut down and theaters will allot only 50 percent seats. The apartment complexes are asked to shut down their party halls and clubhouses to curb super spreader events.<br />'' <br />'' Gatherings and functions are prohibited in places of religion but individuals are allowed to offer prayers. No rallies, dharnas or fairs will be allowed till April 20th. The order issued yesterday also suspends physical offline classes from the sixth to ninth standards. But classes will continue for those in 10th to 12th standard, however physical attendance is not mandatory.<br />'' <br />'' Boarding schools and residential hostels will remain closed, except for those in 10 to 12th standard.<br />'' <br />''The state reported 4991 fresh Covid infections yesterday with six new fatalities. The positivity rate for the day shot up to 4.19 percent from 3.65 percent on Thursday. Bengaluru Urban district alone accounted for 3509 new cases and five deaths.</span><br />
