The Governor of Karnataka H R Bharadwaj has rejected nomination of Justice S R Bannurmath for the post of Karnataka Lokayuktha. In a press communiqu’ issued by Raj Bhavan, it is stated that taking into consideration the contents of subsequent correspondence with the Chief Minister Sadanand Gowda, the nomination of Justice Bannurmath is rejected. Justice Bannurmath faces allegations of illegally owning a site in judicial layout among other charges.Justice S R Bannurmath who is a retired Chief Justice of Kerala High Court called a press conference today and termed all the allegations made in the media including those made by the Governor as false, baseless, reckless and motivated by irrelevant consideration. He had written a letter to the Chief Minister yesterday in which he requested it to withdraw his nomination as he is unable to withstand continuous onslaught of false and reckless allegations against his integrity and character in the absence of any iota of truth in them.
