Karnataka Governor defends his action to seek report from Yeddyurappa on land scam

Governor of Karnataka H R Bharadwaj has defended his action of writing to the Chief Minister Yeddyurappa on land scam allegations and tax evasion against him and his cabinet collegues. Speaking to the media persons after attending a function in Bangalore on Friday, the Governor asked who else can he ask but the Chief Minister about series of allegations? The Governor had shot two letters to Chief Minister Yeddyurappa on Wednesday seeking factual report on land scam allegations against him and Former Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu. In the letter the Governor had mentioned that media reports on land scams give the impression that there is an element of truth in it. He also refered to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee representation to him, alleging favoritism, nepotism and misuse of official position by the Chief Minister and former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu. In the second letter the Governor had asked the Chief Minister to furnish details of all business interests of Ministers Janardhana Reddy, Karunakara Reddy and Sriramulu. The Governor has sought details based on the charges made by former Prime Minister Deve Gowda and media reports that have accused these ministers of serious breach of rule of law and alleged tax evasions. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Dr G Parameshwar has strongly supported Karnataka Governor H R Bharadwaj, for seeking details from the Chief Minister. Speaking to newsmen in Bangalore yesterday, Dr Parameshwar said that Governor was well within his domain while seeking details from the Chief Minister on the reported violations of land reforms act while his family purchased revenue lands in different parts of the state.
