The Karnataka Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj has asked the Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to prove majority on the floor of the House by 12th of this month as 19 MLAs have withdrawn support from the government. A Raj Bhawan release says that Governor has received letters in this regard from 14 BJP and five Independent MLAs. Earlier, the Chief Minister in a press conference in Bangalore announced the dropping of four Ministers from his cabinet due to dissident activities. Among the ministers dropped, three are Independent MLAs who had initially supported the Government. Mr. Yeddyurappa claimed that efforts are on to end dissidence and asked those stationed in Chennai to come and discuss their problems. AIR correspondent reports, the Chief Minister has dropped the Independent MLAs who were Ministers, to accommodate the rebels and eliminate dissidence. He has sent the letter to the Governor to drop them and Governor in turn has accepted it. Chief Minister has now to prove his majority on the floor of the house within six days. Yeddyurappa has said that he will meet the Governor today evening and convey this to him. He has also criticised Deve Gowda and his sons Kumaraswamy and Revanna for encouraging dissidence activities and threaten that in the coming days his Government will expose details of land held by Gowdas and acquire them for development work.
