<span style="color: #222222;">Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala has asked the state government to bring in an ordinance within a week to ban chewing tobacco products, including gutka.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">A Raj Bhavan release said that the Governor has asked Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister EV Ramana Reddy and Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department Jawaid Akhtar who met the Governor on Thursday to submit a progressive report on banning gutka, scented and unscented chewing tobacco in the state.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">During a meeting with the Chief Minister and Home Minister in July, the Governor had discussed a possible ban on the sale and distribution of chewing tobacco products.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">A Raj Bhavan release issued in July had said that the Governor had suggested to the Chief Minister to ban the sale and distribution of tobacco pouches that are spreading addictions among the youth.</span><br />
