Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has accepted the resignation submitted by Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa.<br />'' <br />''A notification issued by the Government says that the Governor has accepted the resignation and dissolved the Council of Ministers headed by him.<br />'' <br />''However, Yediyurappa has been asked to function as Chief Minister, till his successor is nominated.<br />'' <br />''In an emotional speech today, Mr Yediyurappa had announced his resignation during Sadhana Samavesha organised on the occasion of his government completing two years term.<br />'' <br />''AIR correspondent reports, a tall BJP leader in Karnataka who spearheaded a successful campaign for his party has stepped down as Chief Minister for the fourth consecutive time without completing his full term.<br />'' <br />''In 2007, BJP with 79 seats had formed the State Government along with JD(S) thereby providing a threshold for BJP in the South. However, that was short-lived when JD(S) withdrew support.<br />'' <br />''In 2008, BJP gained 110 seats and with the help of independents Yediyurappa became Chief Minister for the second time.<br />'' <br />''However, again his tenure was short-lived due to allegations of illegal mining.<br />'' <br />''In 2018, he took oath as Chief Minister for the third time when BJP won 104 seats.<br />'' <br />''However, JD(S) and Congress came together to form the Government when Yediyurappa failed to prove majority.<br />'' <br />''After a series of defections from Congress and JD(S) to BJP, Yediyurappa was sworn in for the fourth time. However, today he stepped down after two years.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The tenure of this Government is till 2023. Being a charismatic leader of the state, Yediyurappa said that he will continue working for the party.</span><br />
