Karnataka has experienced an overall deficit of 56% in the rainfall received since Southwest monsoon season began this year. Scientist A. Prasad from Indian Meteorological Department in Bangalore has informed that despite initial setback in the monsoon rain, a near-normal monsoon is expected in the next 3 months. Speaking exclusively to Akashvani in Bengaluru today Prasad said that seasonal rain will improve after this initial setback this month<br />''&nbsp;<br />''Mr. Prasad said the deficit in Southwestern monsoon in Karnataka was due to the influence of various factors like the recent Cyclone Biparjoy in the Arabian Sea, weak Indian Ocean dipole oscillation, and a probable El-Nino condition in the Indian Ocean.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''He informed that while Karnataka received an average rainfall of 17 cm by 26th June 2022, this year only 7cm of rainfall was received. He added that coastal Karnataka had a deficit rainfall of 58%, while districts in North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka had deficits of 53% and 56% respectively.&nbsp; Bengaluru Urban District had some respite as it has received the expected 7cm of rainfall as on 26th June 2023.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The 50-year average rainfall between 1970 to 2020 in Karnataka state has been around 83 cm with a deviation of plus or minus 19 percent.</span><br />
