<span style="color: #222222;">Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has vowed to travel around the state to convince farmers about the benefits of amending APMC and Land Reforms Laws. Speaking to the media persons in Bengaluru today, he requested farmer leaders to discuss with the Government about the concerns they have about the amendments. He assured them that in just six months they will know the positive benefits of the amendments. He reminded the farmers on how agents rule the roost in some of the APMCs. The amendment to APMC, he emphasised, will give farmers the freedom to sell their produce wherever they want.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> On the land reforms law, the Chief Minister assured that the land belonging to SC and STs cannot be purchased and the land ownership ceiling has been capped at 54 acres for one family. He added that there is protection for irrigated land also. Meanwhile the Karnataka bandh call given by farmers, workers and Congress party had mixed response today. The marches and protests were restricted to the central part of the cities. In Bengaluru hotels, banks, shops and business establishments functioned as usual.</span><br />
