<br/>Karnataka Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa has virtually rejected the opposition demand for the removal of two of his cabinet colleagues allegedly involved in the mining scam. He was talking to reporters in New Delhi after meetings with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P. Chidambaram. Mr. Yeddyurappa also rejected the demand for handing over the illegal mining case to the CBI, saying the Lok Ayukta in the state is empowered to inquire into the matter. The Chief Minister said, such a step could be considered if charges are proved.<br/><br/>During his meeting with the Prime Minister, Yeddyurappa, who also submitted a memorandum to him, demanded a ban on iron ore exports and urged the PM to convene a meeting of Chief Ministers to discuss mining issues. On his meeting with the Home Minister, he said, he discussed the issues of illegal mining, the resignation of Lokayukta Santosh Hegde and its subsequent withdrawal, the law and order situation and the current Belgaum row.
