The Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa openly blamed Central Government of siding with Goa on Kalasa Banduri project on Mahadayi river. Kalasa Banduri project envisaged by the State will provide drinking water to Hubli Dharwad and neighboring districts in North Karnataka. But Goa is opposing any diversion of Mahadayi or Mandovi river water.<br/><br/>Karnataka has opposed Central Government’s decision to constitute a Tribunal to resolve the inter state dispute. B S Yeddyurappa accused Prime Minister’s office of discrimination stating that by not giving time for the all party delegation from the state to meet the Prime Minister it has shown disrespect to federal system.<br/><br/>He said that a letter will be written to the Prime Minister regarding Mahadayi and the Water Resources Minister in the state Basavaraj Bommai will meet Union Water Resource Minister on Wednesday in New Delhi to press for according necessary permission to the drinking water project in Karnataka. The Mahadayi river dispute between Karnataka and Goa is coming up for hearing in the Supreme Court on 18th this month. The Chief Minister said that State is preparing its argument to vouch for its share of water.
