Karnataka CM asks FM to allow DCC banks to exchange demonetized notes

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to allow District Central Co-operative Banks, DCC banks to exchange demonetized bank notes and also accept them as deposits. He noted that all the 21 DCC banks in the state with 706 branches having over 45 lakh deposits and over 21 lakh loan accounts are facing cash crunch. He added that farmers are unable to operate their accounts and pay their loans. Hence he has requested the Finance minister to instruct Reserve Bank of India to modify its circular and allow DCC banks to work on par with the Commercial banks.
